Balingup

Balingup is a town that just seems to have a little bit of magic about it.  Set in a picturesque valley, on the Blackwood River, this delightful place promises a diverse range of activities, things to see and unique events, with accommodation to match.

Visitors to Balingup can enjoy a very different shopping experience, with a great diversity of shops, perfect for browsing.  The shopping "strip" offers foods, clothing, jewellery, cosmetics and herbal preparations, artworks, gifts and bits and pieces with that touch of magic about them.

Whilst there are plenty of interesting premises to explore right on the Harvest Highway (South Western Highway) running through the centre of Balingup, if you venture out of town, you don’t have to go very far before you bump into beautiful open gardens, studios and places of interest.

And before, during and after shopping there are some great eating places offering everything from delicious cakes and snacks through to prize winning meat pies, light lunches, hearty meals and fine dining.

There are a growing number of wineries springing up around the Balingup townsite, so make sure you leave a bit of time to explore these and enjoy sampling some of the fine wines produced in the area.

The people of Balingup are proud of their town and are very aware of the importance of their natural attractions.  Visitors are cordially invited to enjoy these, too.  A walk along the Blackwood River is sure to relax you and the Golden Valley Tree Park is definitely recommended for a walk, a picnic or just to sit and contemplate the beauty of trees.

And those events! Just look for that event with a bit of difference and you can be sure it will be in Balingup!!  Major events include the Small Farm Field Day in April, the Medieval Carnivale in August and the Jalbrook Classic Concert in November, but, to be honest, there is always something happening in Balingup.  These people know how to enjoy life!!!

The Balingup Visitor Centre is right in the centre of town.  The friendly people at the Centre are all residents of Balingup and will be happy to help you with any information you need about their town.  So, call the Visitor Centre on 9764 1818 and learn all you can about this lovely town.
