Donnybrook - Solahart Donnybrook Marathon Relay
This is an annual event held on the second last Saturday in November with this year's event taking place on Saturday November 18. It is known as the toughest marathon in this State with a total distance of 83kms comprising of six sections.
The race starts in Donnybrook's main street at 10.30am with the 34kms cycle to Glen Mervyn Dam where the 7kms canoe follows on. After a half hour lunch break the 1.4kms swim is next after which the 20kms mountain bike through rough terrain follows, to end at the Yabberup Hall where the walkers are waiting to start the 8.5kms power walk to Trevena Road. There the runners start their 12.1kms run (into the sun) back into Donnybrook finishing at the Recreation Centre.
Entries close on the Saturday a week prior to the event. Late entries will be taken until 10am on the morning prior to the start of the race. Prize presentations, drinks and a sausage sizzle are enjoyed at the Rec. Centre at the end of this fun but gruelling day.
