Northcliffe

This delightful little town, surrounded by towering forests is one of Western Australia’s hidden secrets, just the place to be if you need to leave the rat-race behind and enjoy the solitude and peace that the local citizens relish.

With a rich industrial history, essentially centred on the timber and dairy industries, there is plenty to see and do in the Northcliffe area.

The local community has capitalised on the splendid forests that surround the town and developed a series of walking trails that will enable you to enjoy these beautiful trees and the ecosystem that supports them without impacting on the environment.

Northcliffe has the best of both worlds- not only is it located near the jarrah, marri and karri forests, it is also a hop, skip and a jump away from the beautiful and untamed D’Entrecasteaux National Park, with its sweeping unspoilt coastline.  A virtual heaven on earth for the more adventurous visitor, but also revered by those who enjoy natural beauty and getting back to nature.

Northcliffe has a rich and varied history with its obvious links to the timber industry but the community actually began its life as one of the Group Settlements for soldiers after the first World War.  The dairy industry is till important to the small town and there are several farms in the district that throw open their doors to the visitor, so you can see first hand where milk comes from.

Northcliffe’s newest attraction, soon to be opened is the imaginative and unique Southern Sculpture Walk which will incorporate many different aspects of the arts: music, sculpture, literature all interacting within the forest.  Watch out for the opening of this magic event cum attraction in November.

So, Northcliffe is truly the location for all-peace for those harassed and stressed, adventure for those who love a challenge, nature for those who love the forests, and lots more.
