Serpentine
Serpentine, a small town just a hop, skip and a jump south of Perth is a diverse area with a whole lot going for it.
Probably the first thing that springs to mind is the Serpentine National Park- home to the picturesque Serpentine Falls, Dam and Pipehead Dam. The scenery in this area is stunning and there are heaps of perfect picnic spots for the family to enjoy. During the spring, the park comes alive with colour as the wildflowers bloom. There are walk trails for those who wish to explore this beautiful area.
Then there is the heritage. Serpentine has a rich history and the stories of the Serpentine can be told through the vintage machinery museum that is preserving the rural history of the area. Also worth checking out is the lovely little church right on the Harvest Highway.
Serpentine offers a great destination for the day tripper- well within the distance for a relaxing day, with a picnic basket by your side- or check out some of the local eating places, pack the kids into the car and set out on a day of adventure and fun.
